Real Salvation 2

Sometimes I am very pleasantly surprised when I am with someone who I did not know was a Christian or someone who did not know that I was a Christian. One of us will speak some little thing about the Lord, and . . . WHAM-BANG! . . . we suddenly know the other is a Christian and we are joyfully and eternally united.

Matthew 5:13: Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.

Salt improves the taste of our food. Salt purifies. Salt preserves. Salt makes a difference. Real Salvation improves, purifies, and preserves. Real Salvation makes a difference.

2 Corinthians 5:17: Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

The more God changes me the better I like it. The more God changes me the better I like me. The more God changes you the better I like you. The more God changes me the more assurance of salvation I have. The more God changes you the more confident I am that you have salvation. The more God changes us the more the world will hate us.

John 15:18: If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.

Water seeks its own level. If you put yourself above water it is unnatural for the water to flow to you. It takes some sort of a siphon or pump to get the water to you. If you put yourself above God (pride) it is unnatural for His changes to flow to you. If you put yourself beneath Him He will flood you and your life with His wonderful changes.

I know a lady named Margaret. I doubt if Margaret has real salvation. She wants me to believe that she does. But all that comes out of her are complaints about her problems, her little problems, her big problems, her problems. She has never initiated a conversation about the Lord. She has never brought up even a little thing about the Lord. When someone else starts a conversation about God she is willing to talk about Him but the things she says about Him are plagiarism. They are all cookie-cutter comments that originated with someone else. If she hears someone else praise God she is willing to parrot their praise. She is like a tape recording. She is mechanical. She only speaks about the Lord when she is squeezed into it. She always seems rather uncomfortable speaking about the Lord. The quicker she can get the conversation back to her problems the more comfortable she is. Some things are unique, individual and original about everyone*s salvation. There is nothing about Margaret*s salvation that is uniquely hers. She repeats the same words she has used ever since I have known her, a decade or so. Margaret has not been changed. Margaret is not salt.
